I’ve been working on writing my next article for a while now, but the words haven’t come. Not for the usual reasons of writer’s block or not truly believing in my comparison, but because there is another comparison that has been taking up space in my brain, begging to be written about.

Aneesa Ferreira, the Guy who Played Football in High School of the Challenge

Although I just wrote an article that wasn’t the nicest towards Danny, I feel like I need a bit of a disclaimer here. I have nothing against Aneesa, and have enjoyed her on my tv. This article is in jest and written with love.

Past Accomplishments

I’m sure we’ve all met that guy who can’t stop talking about the glory days. Heck, I recently talked to a guy on Bumble who mentioned that he is a former athlete in his bio. As a former college athlete myself, I thought this was a great conversation starter, until I found out that he was still trying to pick up girls with his accomplishments from 10 years ago. I’m sure he was a good athlete in high school, but for us, high school is long past, and if you haven’t done anything bio worthy since then, you should take a good long look at yourself.

Aneesa gives this same air of hubris when talking about her Challenge accomplishments. Sure, she won an elimination this past season, but her time of being an elimination beast was about 12 years ago. There isn’t a way to bring up those old accomplishments on a current challenge season and not sound like you are living in the past.

Current Ability

There is this story my Dad loves to tell about the time Brett Favre was throwing passes at halftime at a Mustangs game. The Mustangs were an arena football team in Milwaukee, and what they lacked in talent they made up for with incredible halftime shows. Anyways, back when Favre was still a Packer, he was throwing passes to lucky fans who had a chance of winning some sort of gift card. They were all lobbed touchdown throws, made to be easier for these non-pros. However, there was one man who watched these soft throws and scoffed. He went up and told Favre to throw him a pass like he would his receivers. You see, this man played in high school, so of course he could catch a touchdown pass. Favre looked at him with a smirk on his face and double checked to make sure the man knew what he was asking for. Now, this man was in shape. He made a beautiful run and his hands reached out and grabbed onto the ball, but what he didn’t expect was the ball to have been thrown so hard, that catching it took him clear off the ground. After he picked himself up, he quickly walked away, shoulders down, confidence gone. While he still had some skill, it was nowhere near the true skill of an NFL player.

Now, this is a long story to say that that man’s confidence and bluster is what I think of whenever I see Aneesa on a cast list. She’s not bad, and there are definitely things that are to her strength, but she is not at the same level as the other castmates. This was easy to see on Double Agents when she was struggling to run. Endurance has always been her weakness, but it has gotten worse as the years have gone on. That being said, she is a perfect fit for the Challenge: Beer League, oh wait… I mean All Stars.
