Theresa Jones: The Barry Sanders of The Challenge

It’s been a doozy of a week. I swear I’ve thought every day was Friday since Tuesday, but the day is finally here! Throughout this series, I will focus on a lot of quarterbacks, but as a fan of an NFC North team, there is no way I’m going to go without writing about the Big Bad Barry.

Theresa Jones: The Barry Sanders of the Challenge

After discussing Tony Mandarich, I feel the need to talk about Barry Sanders, the next man picked in the ’89 draft. Sanders was the third overall pick, and went to the Detroit Lions, which cemented how his career would go. I’d say Lions fans should leave this article now, but they seem to be better at making fun of their team than anybody.

Absolute Legend

Barry Sanders was incredible, possibly the best running back to have ever played the game. He was so good, that he elevated a terrible team enough that they made the playoffs multiple times. Let me repeat that, the Detroit Lions made the playoffs multiple times, and it was because of Barry Sanders. To put this in perspective, the Lions have only made it to the playoffs 12 times in the 61 seasons they have been a team. The last time they won a game in the playoffs was because of the man this article is about. Now, his playoff performances weren’t super strong, but hey, he played on the Lions what could you expect.

Theresa is known by some as the best to never win. While that is up for debate, there is no question that she is an incredibly strong player. She has great endurance, and a natural athleticism that makes her a threat no matter the challenge. However, she has one fatal flaw, that has insured her inability to win.

Theresa’s Social Game vs the Detroit Lions

Now, I’ve already talked about how bad the Lions are, but truly their incompetent management is what kept Sanders from a ring. Throughout his reign over the NFL, the Lions lost many valuable players, and were never able to get a team together that could truly contend for the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for Barry Sanders, he was so good that Lions’ record was decent enough that they never went into a true rebuild. Eventually, he got so frustrated he retired when they wouldn’t trade him.

Theresa on the other hand is her own Detroit Lions. Her social game is and always has been an absolute train wreck. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone not grasp a situation as much as when she tried to hook up with both Kenny and Wes on the same season. Except, she actually did worse when she voted her own ally into elimination, by incorrectly using a burn vote. Just like Barry Sanders was so good the Lions’ management never changed, Theresa is such an athletic threat that she doesn’t have a chance of improving her social game. Even if people start to like her in the house (which is a big if), no girl will want to see her in the final.
